I do that muthas joke every year but I just want to say Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! being a mom is a hard job!

apparently, I don't know the comma rules

so my awesome writer boyfriend read thru Blood of New Beginnings and I came to realize that I don't know the comma placement rules. most of his corrections were comma placements. at first I laughed, but then I thought "man, I really don't know crap about grammar rules." how can that be? how did I forget all of that stuff? I mean, I'm a writer(don't even get me started on writing analytical papers for school because I suck according to my professor) and I use grammar allllll the time. however, I don't think I'm using it right.the bad news is I'm going to have to brush up on basic grammar rules so my edits aren't so painful.
the good news is he really liked BONB and that meant a lot to me because he and I write completely different genres.

so you may or may not have noticed that I have been absent from the blogosphere. I've been lurking but not posting due to the hideous amount of personal stress and other assorted disasters that have rolled in and out of my life. most have simmered down so I can rejoin the world.

Dark Shadows Return to Collinwood...SQUEEEEE!

I got this in the mail yesterday and did a super fangirl squee. I ordered from her sight and it's autographed by Kathryn Leigh Scott who played Maggie Evans/Josette DuPre on the original show. it also included a picture of Barnabas and Josette the bride which she kindly autographed. best part is I got it before it is released so I can geek out over all the pics and inside info. I seriously love this old version of the show. I have it on DVD and it's one of the reasons that I love vampires so much. awesome!!!! this book is just made of awesome. I recommend it very highly to everyone!I also recommend KLS book Dark Passages, which is a fun twist on the vampire story. it is about a vampire who joins the cast of a soap opera featuring a vampire. FUN!

I've been locked out of my blog now for about a week or so. I couldn't log in and somehow I signed up to have verification codes sent to me monthly and my phone wasn't getting them so I had to have them MAILED to me. yes MAILED to me. anyway, I'm back.

vampires for valentines! and a giveaway!

but lets talk about vampires and valentine's day. valentine's day is a day to celebrate your true, lasting love. some do it with splashes of red and hearts and roses, some do it with poetry and romantic little trinkets and games. some do it in their own unique way. for me, vampires are much the same. they are all unique and different. vampire lore is so varied. stories about vampires often intermix and mingle this lore and create their own kind of vampire. some vamps are evil and dark. some are like humans with the same foibles quirks, just with special dietary requirements and some are more creature like in that they no longer retain any of their humanity.
my vampires are a mix. they resemble humans but have different traits and abilities.  whatever kind of vampire a person's maker is, that is they type of vampire the human will be. kind of like heredity. one thing I didn't want my vampires to lose, even though they shun it as a human weakness, is the desire for love and a companion. I think even vampires need love, just like people do. in my books, there is a lot of conflict about love and companionship mixed in with more vampire centric issue. I made it so that even vampires have dating problems and experience heartbreak and jealousy. just because you live forever doesn't mean that your heart can't be broken. and I like this. don't get me wrong, my vampires are kick ass but at the end of the day, everybody loves love. And needs love. my main character Eamon in Blood Betrayed has a horrible time learning to accept this and it's terrific. he's over a thousand years old, rich and sexy and still has a hard time finding love. or real love.
so enjoy this day of love and I hope your love lasts an eternity!
