when my mind wanders
this would be something I would come up with when my mind wanders. sometimes I have the most free wheeling mind. I have the ability to totally go on a mental break in times of stress or boredom yet still look completely engaged. the bad thing is most times, I don't get any brainstorming ideas when it happens. instead I come up with dumb or obscure things to Google and that's how I found the above image. back to not getting any writing ideas. it's really a shame that nothing comes through for my writing because I get a ton of random stuff done. I suppose I could say it was character research for one of my bipolar characters but that would be pushing it. now, I will say that I do get some true writing related research done. thanks to my wandering mind and surf fests, I was able to pull together the outline for Death Hunter, the third Primigenio Tales book. I had to do lots of research about Berlin, clotting disorders and history of African American medical education as well as pharmaceutical company research. so in this case a wandering mind was good. or I can say it now because at the time it was mainly a bunch of me saying to myself," I wonder what..." I got a good 32 thousand words out of that and about 4 thousand words of an unrelated short story from my undisciplined mind. and that makes me wonder about how people research and so on. when your mind wanders, does it end up being a good thing or a big old time suck?
